📖 Content moderation glossary
What is community management?
In short
Community management is the work of building, animating and moderating an organisation's online community: publishing, answering comments and messages, handling complaints and enforcing the community's rules.
Community managers are the voice of the organisation on social networks and in comment spaces. Moderation is only part of their work, but it often takes the most time and stress, especially during a crisis or a viral post.
Example: a regional transport operator's community manager answers questions about delays, passes complaints to customer service, publishes service updates and deals with insults directed at drivers. On a strike day, comments increase tenfold.
Handing over moderation frees community managers for what only they can do: answering, explaining, defusing. With OpenModeration, clear violations are hidden automatically, doubtful cases are handled by our team and criticism stays visible so it can be answered; you see every decision in real time and can step in whenever you want.
