📖 Content moderation glossary
What is a moderation queue?
In short
A moderation queue is the list of content waiting for review by a moderator, such as comments held for approval, items flagged by the AI as doubtful, user reports and contested decisions.
The queue is where human moderation happens. It must be prioritised: a reported threat or a trusted flagger's notice comes before a borderline joke, and a contested decision with a deadline before routine checks.
Example: on Monday morning, a brand's community manager opens the console. Over the weekend, the AI hid 300 spam and insulting comments automatically and left the rest visible; the doubtful cases were handled by the OpenModeration team. She has no backlog to clear: she browses the decisions and their reasons, and can change any of them if she wants.
A queue that grows faster than it is processed is a sign the rules or thresholds need adjusting. With OpenModeration, the queue is not your job: clear violations are hidden automatically and doubtful cases are handled by our team, while you see everything in real time.
